About Dunlap Construction

Serving North Carolina Since 1979

The company founder, Dennis Dunlap, is from Hendersonville, North Carolina. Dennis began his career in construction as a cabinet maker, and prides himself on starting the company from the ground up. Dennis has three daughters and six grandchildren. He is an avid beekeeper and pilot, and just recently made a transcontinental flight from coast to coast in his Stearman bi-plane. Outside of work, he enjoys time at his farm and lake house. The family farm is home to birthday parties, weddings, and a yearly Fourth of July extravaganza. Dennis is an active board member for the Seventh Avenue Advisory Committee, President of the Skyland Homeowners Association, and Co-Founder of the Western North Carolina Air Museum.

Jill Dunlap Wallen, Dennis’ daughter and co-owner, has been a part of Dunlap Construction Company since 2003. Her husband, Ray Wallen, is the General Superintendent for the company, and together they have two sons. Jill graduated from the University of North Carolina at Asheville in 2003 with a BA in Business Administration. In 2004, she obtained her contractor license. Jill began working in the construction industry when she was only 17 as a laborer. During college, she started building residential spec homes, as well as learning the ropes of Dunlap Construction. Like her father, a lot of her time is spent with friends and family at the farm where she loves to garden. Jill is an active board member of the Rotary Club in Hendersonville and volunteers at Hendersonville Elementary School, where her son attends.
